Far-Right Infighting Regarding the "Save the Children East Meets West" Convoy

While watching the infighting on the far right regarding the "Save the Children" convoy has been fun I wasn't going to write about it. Then Jason LaFace did a stream and, well, how could I not then? 

This clip sort of acts as a summary:


So let's start at the beginning shall we? 

Over the past few days far-right groups like Veterans4Freedom and Police on Guard For Thee have been warning their supporters and others not to participate in the "Save the Children East Meets West" convoy:


The reasons why are varied, but also include information Jeff Evely of V4F posted regarding what he heard at one of the secret meetings:

V4F also released an audio in which "someone in the know" talks about the plan to surround police in the financial district in Toronto and that they had 3 million supporters, such as former police and military, who would help to remove the government:
I was initially sure that the voice in the clip was that of Marcus Ray, a far-right activist who participated in the Ottawa Occupation in February 2022. In fact I stated my belief that it was Ray in the Twitter (er... X I guess) thread that I originally published. However it is far more likely, certain even, that the voice is that of Shawn "Iron Crow" Bradley who is one of the Nova Scotia organizers and with whom Jeff Evely would have attended the secret meeting with.

However while it was not Marcus Ray, I do think it is fair to suggest that his influence (or ideas) are reflected to some degree in this event. 

For example, Ray also spoke about surrounding police. He also talked about possessing an army of ex-police and veterans:

We also know that Elliot McDavid, Gordon Berry, and Shawn "Iron Crow" Bradley, were in attendance at the "planning meeting" in Manitoba last Fall organized by Marcus Ray (thanks to a friend for these screen grabs of Berry in the top photo and Bradley in the bottom... the V4F t-shirt in the top one is rather ironic now):



Finally, we see that the main eastern organizer, Gordon Berry, often wears a Constitutional Sheriffs t-shirt which was Marcus Ray's project (though the American-based far right group stated they didn't know of a Canadian branch):

 

In any case if Ray isn't involved his ideas appear to be being utilized:

But back to the released audio, suffice to say that the convoy folks aren't pleased and are claiming that this is all disinformation. Among those is Jason LaFace who here threatens to hack V4F's website and claims they and Jeff Evely are paid infiltrators:



For those who aren't aware of who Jason LaFace, formerly associated with the Soldiers of Odin, is, he was involved in the Ottawa Occupation and the infamous Memorandum of Understanding that would have been an end run around the elected government (and which had no chance of being agreed to):

Jason LaFace is also prone to... uhm... outbursts such as his claim to have always known that V4F were government plants. He also claims that unions are trying to groom children. Basically throwing everything including the kitchen sink in his accusations:

You see LaFace is also an Alpha unlike the other Beta men in the country. Word of warning that this clip contains some really ugly homophobic missives and epithets:


In yet another virulently homophobic rant where he says the LGBTQ are Nazis (again, there is a lot of anti-LGBTQ epithets dropped) he says that people are arriving at the main camp in spite of the detractors:


Have I mentioned that he really seems mad at V4F and Jeff Evely, because he is REALLY mad at V4F and Jeff Evely:


LaFace talks about how he and his "cyber guys" (he thinks he is a hacker) have been exposing infiltrators. He also mentions his own criminal record and makes a threat: 

"Do you know what my family does to snitches? On my mom's side. Sicilians. Should I say more?":


Regarding the audio released by V4F, LaFace claims he can tell it is fake just by listening to it. They won't be violent, though he immediately undercuts this. 

Also, he talks to France and France tells him Canadians are wimps. 

Uhm... France is a country my dude:


But hey, he is willing to compromise on the name and not call it a convoy if people just show up because Canada only has months left before, oh I don't know, something happens?

It has been "a couple of months" now since 2015 at least in which Canada's collapse has been predicted.

Now by this point you are probably inclined to believe that LaFace might be prone to hyperbole, but he will have you know he has been doing cyber for hours to expose the infiltrators:



He recounts a personal story about why he dislikes and distrusts V4F and, folks, I can't even. 

Dude claims to have organized an event with 10,000 participant when I'm not sure he can organize a backyard bbq with him as the only person who showed up:


Continuing his claims of self-importance, it was HE who spoke to all the real vets who supported the Ottawa Occupation and he has all their names and addresses written down which (a) is almost certainly not true and (b) would be TERRIBLE opsec if it was... which it isn't:


He calls out V4F and Diagolon's Jeremy MacKenzie who he says he knows are dangerous but that he is as dangerous if not more so: 

"I have my own army. Read my fucking criminal record.  You'll see the people I associate with." 

Also, snitches get ditches, not just stitches because, not violent.

As an aside I have no love for JMack or V4F, but I don't for a second think that they couldn't end LaFace in a heartbeat so Chester should probably not antagonize Spike:


I would note here that LaFace is currently in Alberta with no apparent imminent plans to go to Ontario himself, so keep that in mind as he continues to call people out:


LaFace mentions the MOU and how he (again) saved the day and probably the country single handedly. 

But yeah, 300,000 people signed it? And you have the hard drive? And are the only person who has it?

Totally things that have happened:


In claiming he would commit another crime to keep the hard drive from falling into police hands, he shares why he is keeping it and other artifacts.  

One day, they will be enshrined in a Museum of Freedom that commemorates their heroic efforts:


I'll finish with that clip because it really does go to the motivation of people like LaFace. They want to be famous. They want to be known for having done something great. They think they should be in history books. 

They want to be remembered.

These are people occupy the fringes of society but because they have been able to connect in an online echo chamber have convinced themselves they are movers of history.

When one looks at it that way, the likes of Jason LaFace, but also people like Pat King, Kevin Johnston, Jeremy MacKenzie, Artur Pawlowski, Tamara Lich and so many others becomes just so much more pathetic.

In the end I don't know if this "convoy" will go to Toronto. It seems that the police in Toronto may have acted in response to the recording released by V4F, though ultimately nothing happened on that day. In a recent stream by one of the participant it seems that he believes the final destination is Ottawa which makes some sense considering it is the seat of government and occupies a "Custer's Last Stand" symbolism amongst this crowd. That said the camp at Phelpston seems to be closer to Toronto than Ottawa so who knows?

Also Police tried to contact Norman Blanchfield because he's in breach of his bail conditions and they told him they'd arrest him. He refused to speak to them and instead did a livestream while driving to address the cops:
But there is more.

Elliot "Moose" McDavid also posted a missive attacking V4F as cowards and traitors:



In his rant he references the Marcus Ray event last Fall in which a V4F spy attended, though because it was QAnon crank Logan Murphy who is about as reliable as a train schedule in Greece they learned about this effort when Murphy spilled the beans to them.

McDavid also insists secrecy is important and that it will be peaceful but undercuts this statement by his next statement justifying being aggressive.

Also of interest, it seems big, brave, Elliot McDavid isn't himself going to Ontario as he criticized others for not going, though he does say he flip flopped back and forth and his heart is with those who are going so I guess that makes it all okay:


Finally in a rather telling rant, McDavid basically says that just because they are vets that it doesn't mean that the V4F members aren't traitors ans disgusting.

Support the troops, eh?

But he also mentions Marcus Ray, a man whom he considers to be a friend, claiming that he has no involvement and that they only wear the Constitutional Sheriff t-shirts because they like them.

I mean, since it isn't stained perhaps it is his dress t-shirt?


 I don't know what the outcome of the events that at being planned will be, where it will take place, and when it will occur.

But it very well be quite disruptive and potentially dangerous.

Far-right Infighting Surrounding The Trial Of The Coutts 4

Last month the far-right in Canada had multiple situations that included bitter infighting. Notably much of it surrounded accusations by Ezra Levant that Diagolon founder Jeremy Mackenzie is a "fed".

Well let's discuss some of what happened. A lot went on and it was hard to keep track of who was angry at whom and for what reasons but we'll piece some of it together and check out some of the no-no information that was released as a result. We'll start with the accusations that Jeremy Mackenzie is a "fed". As previously noted Ezra Levant made the claim and received some major backlash from the Diagolon community.

This re-ignited the feud between Jeremy Mackenzie and Rohan Kumar Pall AKA: Warcampaign. Ro did a livestream where he really went at Jeremy and some of the things he said are worth noting. He criticized Diagolon for their "no political solution" rhetoric.

Ro refers to The Rebel as "sensationalism" and reminds people that Ezra Levant is Jewish... for some reason.
Here's where things start to get interesting. Ro claims that the false allegations about a government relations company employee carrying a Nazi flag came from Andrew MacGillivray of Veterans 4 Freedom. That claim led to a lawsuit against "Freedom" convoy lawyer Brendan Miller.
Ro talks about how Jeremy Mackenzie backed away from Chris Lysak which is something he's been doing on and off since the arrests in Coutts. Ro also calls Jeremy a federal informant.
Ro goes into detail about why he's calling Jeremy a fed. He refers to him as a snitch for reporting a group called The LYNX movement to the RCMP which Jeremy proudly boasted about. Ro called Jeremy the "word police" for stating the people he reported used an "illegal phrase". Jeremy states that no charges were brought against anyone he reported and that they just went away, which isn't true. Landon Preik is currently facing multiple firearms charges. It's unclear whether it's because Jeremy reported them.
And before anyone thinks that I'm being too supportive of the Warcampaign guys, here's Ro spreading great replacement theory rhetoric.


The more interesting fall-out from the last month has been between "independent journalist/politician" Jason Lavigne and Diagolon/Coutts 4 supporters. Jason has been supporting the Coutts 4 and still does but many of their other supporters have taken issue with the amount of attention that he is getting, including an appearance on Infowars.
Much of the infighting is centred around Jason's willingness to speak with Marco Van Huigenbos, who was involved in the Coutts blockade, as well as the fund raising efforts for court costs.

For whatever reason, Jeremy Mackenzie chose to out one of his supporters after these exchanges. Using the online handle "Rocky" her name is Chantelle Grayston.

Alex Vriend and Derek Harrison discussed Marco Van Huigenbos, referring to him as a "fed" and a "lying weasel".
In the midst of all this Jason Lavigne continued to livestream, and had both Marco Van Huigenbos and Jeremy Mackenzie's partner Morgan Guptil on separate shows. Some of the information they discussed I found very interesting. Marco states that when he was leaving for the Coutts blockade, he told his wife that "he may not be home" due to the likelihood of "civil disobedience".
In these clips Marco describes his past relationship with Danielle Smith and the UCP, and his friendship with the Coutts 4.
Here's where things get interesting. Marco discusses the funding for the blockade and how it wasn't distributed "in a timely manner", and apparently a "large business owner" of a "large trucking company" offered to pay for all the food.
Even more interesting is that Marco says that his legal fees were previously being covered by Rebel "News" until recently when he spoke out about Ezra not helping to fund the legal fees for the Coutts 4. Now he has to fund his own costs.
Jason claims that he was told by people to not trust Marco, and that's what led to the backlash against him.
After the livestream with Marco, Jason held another with Jeremy Mackenzie's partner Morgan Guptill. During which, Jason stated that he would no longer work with Coutts 4 supporter Margaret "Granny" Mackay.
Jason suggests there is some confusion about how the Coutts 4 money is being distributed between the 4 families and that there should be an audit. He also states that someone made a $100,000 donation.
Jason also claims that Ezra Levant offered to fund the court costs for the Coutts 4, but then rescinded the offer.
Jason states that he now has friction with the Coutts 4 over all of the fighting, and one of their wives doesn't appreciate all the extra attention.
And finally, Jason divulged that the Coutts 4 have raised $1 million for court costs.
So with all that money floating around it's unsurprising that people are getting paranoid about where it's going and the bickering has started. And maybe with Morgan appearing on Jason Lavigne's show there is no longer animosity between the Diagolon guys and Jason. The trial for the Coutts 4 doesn't begin until sometime next year so plenty of time for more arguments and more info releases.

Diagolon and Trolling: How To Minimize Platforming the Far-Right and Instead Provide Context

Over the years there has been a lot of discussion about the danger of platforming right wing extremists. It's an issue that I've wrestled with for years myself here on the blog and also on Twitter. On the one hand I've always believed that it was important to share information about could amount to a significant danger to the community; the best disinfectant is sunlight after all. 

But as I tried to expose those individuals and groups who could cause real harm, I also tried to do so in a way that didn't give them any sort of power. A lot of these individuals and groups WANT others to talk about them because uncritical examination allows the noxious beliefs to spread more widely.

In order to try to avoid that I generally employ two primary strategies. The first is mockery. The bigots and hate groups I covered have all been so very self-serious. Using humour as a means of disarming and showing how utterly ridiculous that they are while at the same time showing the public why we should also be concerned often took the wind out of their sails, so to speak.

Also, I'm naturally snarky so there's that too.

The second thing I do which I think is far more important is to try as best I can to provide the critical context for the stories I shared (hence why I was and continue to be verbose as hell) and to avoid telling the narrative that THEY want shared.

So with that, let's engage go through that process by discussing the critical context behind this still I took from a video posted by Derek Harrison of the Plaid Army/Diagolon on his Telegram page:

Shane Marshall and Pierre Poilievre

This photo shows Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre shaking hands with Shane Marshall. If the name "Shane Marshall" is familiar at all, it is likely because of an incident that occurred during the 2021 federal election where Marshall threw pebbles at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau:

Earlier this month, Marshall pleaded guilty to common assault (he had originally been charged with assault with a weapon). The video taken of him shaking hands with Poilievre occurred prior to Marshall's trial where he pled guilty on the first day.

Marshall is also a figure who has been covered by the Canadian Anti-Hate Network for his ties to the overtly racist Canada First and the accelerationist Diagolon:
Marshall was among those who attended the occupation in Ottawa in February 2022 where he was both photographed with then Canada First leader Tyler Russell (who now lives in the United States and runs with Nick Fuentes) and Diagolon de facto leader Jeremy MacKenzie:

Marshall was also briefly detained in Ottawa during the occupation.

So when one looks at this photo of Shane Marshall and Pierre Poilievre, one's first instinct might be to suggest this is proof that Poilievre is courting far right extremists. Without any other context and, given Mr. Poilievre's own dog whistles since becoming leader, that might be a reasonable conclusion... EXCEPT that the context here is critical to understanding what we are actually seeing.

I found the video from which the still is taken on Derek Harrison's Telegram page. Harrison is someone who has been profiled here on the blog a number of times -- I first came across Harrison when he was volunteering for white nationalist Faith Goldy's mayoral campaign -- and he is, I guess, a sort of founding father of the Plaid Army and Diagolon. Harrison's antisemitism, Islamophobia, homophobia, and anti-immigrant rhetoric is well know to people who study this ecosystem.

Harrison and other Dags attended Marshall's trial in support. Suffice to say that it doesn't seem that any of them are especially contrite:

Neo-Nazi Kevin Goudreau is a Symptom of a Larger Problem

Those of you how have followed the blog for years know that Kevin Goudreau, a neo-Nazi active now for more than 30 years, has been covered on these pages mostly in the spirit of how he deserves to be treated.

As a joke whom even other right wing extremists who know him reject.

For example, here are some of his more recent attempts to present himself as a leader in the movement which he thinks make him appear tough and intimidating but which are in fact so cringe that even I am embarrassed for him:


I've strung together some of the YouTube short he has put out where he throws out cliché lines about being "based" and "red pilled" as well as his boilerplate "14 words" schtick.

I might also note that he has taken to couching his bigotry in religion which is sort of a new thing for him:

This one I kept separate as because receiving any advice from Kevin Goudreau about health matters is so deliciously ironic and hilarious.

But though he is a joke, Goudreau still represents a danger of sorts that needs to be taken seriously.

Certainly he is a danger to individuals. While he is ultimately a coward who only targets people who he perceives as being physically weaker than he is, he has a history of assault arrests as well as uttering threats:


He has also engaged in targeted harassment, most recently (at least to my knowledge) targeting a lesbian couple who lived in his apartment block:

Goudreau in fact has historically directed some of his most venomous hatred towards the LGBTQ community:


So then it shouldn't be at all surprising that Kevin Goudreau has jumped onto the anti-drag story time/anti-trans bandwagon as he attended a protest at a Peterborough library this morning:

A Look Back at Diagolon and the Ottawa Occupation: A Teaser

I have an article that I'll be working on focused on the events in Ottawa during the "Trucker Convoy" of which there were few actual truckers participating. Those who follow/followed me on Twitter will remember that I wrote extensively about the event while it was ongoing from the start to finish.

Canadian Far-Right Responds to the Murder of Two Protesters in Kenosha, Wisconsin

Jacob Blake, an unarmed black man in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was shot and paralyzed by police last week, which set off major protests in the city. It was during one of these protests that Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17 year old boy from Antioch, Illinois, who is a member of a right-wing militia, shot 3 protesters, killing 2 and injuring one. He was later arrested by police, after he had fled the state. Numerous videos on social media show the attack, with Rittenhouse shooting a protester in the head, and shooting into the crowd. Initially, protesters had attempted to disarm him of his assault-style rifle. 

We won't go too in depth on what happened in Kenosha, as it's already been reported on at length. 

However, predictably, the Canadian far-right has reacted with their usual callousness and hatred. 

Jeremy MacKenzie (AKA Raging Humanist/Rick Handy), and John Southern (who claims to have been involved in some capacity with Wolfgang Droege of the Heritage Front) were gleeful that protesters were murdered in the street:

On Facebook, members and associates of Yellow Vests Canada were quick to defend the killer: 



Other Canadian far-right groups have also been supportive of the killer, such as Canadian Combat Coalition and the Threepers, both far-right anti-Muslim militia groups: 




A reference to Anthony Huber, who attempted to disarm Rittenhouse using his skateboard 

 
Chris Vanderweide, who is awaiting trial for assault due to his involvement with the attack on Hamilton Pride, is also supportive, as is his girlfriend Leigh Stuart:





Ron Banerjee of the patriot movement and Rise Canada is wondering why he can't carry a gun in Canada and shoot people that confront him:

Sam Bell, who runs the Alberta Separatist Youth League, an Alberta thinly disguised white nationalist group, and is also associated with Wexit, posted supportive memes to both his Facebook page (Make Alberta Great Again) and his Instagram. 


Rittenhouse isn't from that city 





Mark Friesen is a nationalist from the yellow vests and a failed PPC candidate. He is also showing support for the shooter.

 



Kazz Nowlin, formerly of the Threepers and currently of the Canadian Sheepdogs, has been especially vocally supportive of the killer: 





Over on Telegram, the virulently racist and antisemitic Canada First (Public) channel has expressed support: 






And the Proud Boys as well: 



As unsurprising as the reactions are, it is very disturbing that an untrained 17 year old boy in the U.S. can walk around with an assault rifle, and attempt to quell a protest against racialized police violence. He killed 2 people, said so to the police, and the officers on the scene did not arrest him. If that isn't an example of white privilege, I don't know what is.
