When Pegida began to organize in Montreal, we began to keep an eye on what was happening. Unfortunately Quebec remains a bit of a problem area for us in that we have no active ARC members in the province and all the members we do have are hopelessly unilingual.
We did notice though that Pegida announced that it was going to hold a March in Montreal on March 28. The usual suspects on Stormfront were giddy with excitement in the lead up to the event:
Ron Banerjee, our favorite little misogynistic, homophobic, Islamophobic, organization of one chimed in to state that he.... er.... we mean Canadian Hindu Advocacy would also be in attendance in the most charming way a lonely shut-in knows how:
Well Ron, that's a bit of a problematic claim considering there wasn't a march:
PEGIDA Québec cancels march after anti-racist groups convene
By Tracey Lindeman, CBC News Posted: Mar 28, 2015 1:40 PM ET Last Updated: Mar 28, 2015 5:21 PM ET
A march organized by sympathizers of a Europe-based anti-Islam, anti-immigration group called PEGIDA was cancelled on Saturday after hundreds of people showed up to protest against PEGIDA itself.
....
Jaggi Singh of the No One Is Illegal activist group helped organize Saturday's counter-protest.
Hundreds of people toting signs denouncing racism and Islamophobia arrived 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of the PEGIDA march, set to take place in a largely Muslim community in Montreal called Little Maghreb.
Just over 100 people had RSVP'd to PEGIDA Québec's march, while nearly 900 members of Antifa (anti-fascism) and other anti-racist groups said they would attend the counter-demonstration.
....
Singh said it's very worrisome that people who normally only espouse racist and xenophobic opinions online are moving into the physical world.
"Neo-Nazis, Islamophobes, internet trolls — they all sort of congregate around this thing called PEGIDA," Singh said.
"Now we know there's racists out there, we know there's Islamophobes out there, we know there's fascists out there, but what's different today is that they're trying to march publicly in a working class, immigrant area that is predominantly North African," he said.
No retreat, eh "AryanStorm92"?
It might have been an embarrassing "debut" for Pegida in Montreal, but it could have been worse:

It might have been an embarrassing "debut" for Pegida in Montreal, but it could have been worse:
- Far-right Pegida eclipsed by its opponents at first UK demo
- Norway Pegida head sued for 'paedo' blog
- Austrian police charge eight Pegida marchers
- Edinburgh Pegida march had only 'four participants'
And as ugly as Pegida is, evidently even they have some standards (which isn't really saying a whole lot).
Great to see action being taken against these Pegida clowns! Keep racism off our streets!
