PEGIDA Canada Members in Nathan Phillips Square Exploiting 9/11 Tragedy

I didn't post much about it since I didn't want to give them any oxygen, but right now PEGIDA Canada is holding a rally in Toronto's Nathan Phillips Square, ostensibly to memorialize the 2001 9/11 tragedy.... on 9/8 I guess.

In reality, it is a cynical ploy to exploit the tragedy to serve their own purposes. The Canadian Combat Coalition also claimed they would be attending and explicitly stated that they would claim that any counter-protesters who showed up would be disrespecting the dead (as if using the victims to promote Islamophobia is more noble).

PEGIDA really is spent force, if one could ever even consider it to have been much of a force in the first place, in the Canadian far-right. The can only ever manage a handful of individuals and are routinely outnumbered by counter-protesters by as much as 6 to 1. This rally seems initially seemed to be no different.

And fyi, the Tweets are coming from Kosalan Kathir who is reporting from the scene. If you're on the platform please follow him:

UPDATE 1: Well looks like things have gotten a bit more interesting.

Looks like at least one Soldier of Odin and some Northern Guard, Proud Boy, La Meute (UPDATE 3: turns out Kosalan mistook the CCC insignia for the La Meute one), and CCC members in the mix:

Eric Brazau was taken away by the police:

Also sounds like there may be III% militia members, though that isn't certain:

Well THIS is a first:

And now confirmation of the presence of the III% militia:

Currently taking screen shots from CCC member Dunn Ryan Mclean's live feed. It looks like most of the people are the usual suspects, including Charlene O'Farrell and the Hamilton SoO:

A few of the comments:

This is Cory Knowles, by the way.

They began marching with a police escort. Not sure where they are heading though one person (who was uncertain himself) suggested city hall:

Well, this is more of what I've come to expect sadly:

I'm going to take a bit of a break as I have an event I need to attend, however I will be back in a few hours.

UPDATE 2: AANNNDDDD I'm back.

So, anything interesting happen while I was away?

If PEGIDA Canada and their fellow far-right supporters thought that they would be welcomed as heroes, it would appear that they were badly mistaken:

Alleged Fredericton Killer Fan of Rebel Media and Faith Goldy

This past Wednesday while perusing my usual online haunts, I noticed a post in which Kevin "Poodle" Johnston (currently awaiting trial on hate crime charges) was promoting an interview of fringe Toronto mayoral candidate Faith Goldy that he would be conducting later that evening:

For those unfamiliar with the Poodle, a perennial candidate who is running in the Mississauga mayoral election, let me remind you who this fella is:

The interview itself was a poorly attended affair, though I do have to admit I didn't come in until near the end so there might have been more viewers earlier:

I'm not going to bother re-posting the video itself because both of these cretins really do deserve their relative obscurity. Besides, there wasn't anything exactly retaliatory considering it was an interview conducted by a racist Islamophobe with a racist, antisemitic, Islamophobe considering both have been pushing a similar narrative anyways.

But that sort of brings me to the point of this article since the narrative Goldy has been pushing since at least her time with Ezra Levant's "Rebel Media"....

.... may very well have contributed to the radicalization of some of her viewers to the point where they might act our violently.

Before Levant fired Goldy due to her association with neo-Nazis, she conducted a multi-part "exposé" on the Fredericton school system which she suggested was being overrun by the swarthy Saracens:

In news that will surprise absolutely no one, most of what she claimed was bull shit:

Even though much of what she claimed was shown to be false, "Rebel Media" viewers who tend to be of a conspiratorial and xenophobic mindset, ate it up since in confirmed what they already believed anyways:

Cameron vs. Van Hamme: Battle of the Douchebags

Not a particularly classy title for this article, but I believe that most readers will find it apropos.

I think we can all accurately define Ronny Cameron as a white supremacist at this point, right?

None of this is of particular surprise given the trajectory Cameron has been on the last year of course. What is new-ish is Cameron's apparent belief that he is the font of knowledge on a broad range of scholarship, including anthropology and human evolution:

Full disclosure here. This writer has a particular passion for this subject having a background in history, sociology, and anthropology. Suffice it to say that this was especially painful for me to watch because Ronny Cameron is really a blithering idiot who really doesn't understand the topic he is covering but who has started to present himself as an authority on all the subjects he talks about. This particular video, which I won't subject ARC readers to, is filled with misrepresentations, falsehoods, and pseudo-science that would give even the most patient person a headache. Honestly, I think Erich von Däniken might be a more credible and knowledgeable scholar by comparison, and he is a fraudulent hack.

After watching the entire video (because I'm a damn masochist apparently) I had only four words enter into my mind which appropriate encapsulated my thoughts:

"Wow, what an idiot."

No me thinking Ronny an idiot shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, but more and more people who might be considered alt-right -- even if they don't consider themselves to be alt-right -- have come to the same conclusion.

With Steven Myatt moving to Alberta (yeah, that's a thing) and Ronny needing to be in conflict with someone, it didn't take long for him to find someone else to beef with:

Alex Van Hamme runs Free Bird Media and has links to folks like Faith Goldy, Paul Fromm, and James Sears. While ARC regulars are likely well aware of who he is, others might remember him from these stories that came out during the Ontario election:

A couple of days ago, Van Hamme found himself in a dialogue with Cameron who was using an alternate Facebook profile:

It's clear that Van Hamme had been annoyed with Ronny for some time and this exchange seems to have been the straw that broke the camel's back since soon after he posted a video slamming Ronny as an idiot:

Van Hamme certainly has a bit of an ego himself based on how he characterizes himself, and I'm not sure I'd be so uppity in touting my journalistic credentials if I considered an interview with "Dimitri the Lover" to be a significant coup:

Still, it's hard to argue with Van Hamme's characterization of Ronny.

It wasn't long before Ronny caught wind of the video. He responded in a dignified, measured, mature, manner befitting his self-proclaimed status as the face of white nationalism in Canada.

And by dignified, measured, and mature, I mean an hour and forty-minute profane dis track because Ronny gotta Ronny.

The video is too long to post in its entirety so I have currently cut it into 14 clips. I may very well come back to the this article at a later date to edit for the juicy stuff, but I'm tired and cranky so I'm making you sift through it all if you have the stomach. My personal favorite part though was when Ronny started bragging about his 130 IQ based on an online IQ test. I'm sure many readers have done these tests as well. I've done several in the past for shits and giggles and my IQ ranges from 120 to 250 based on these tests. Now a 120 IQ might not be out of the question, but I am not so arrogant to believe I have a 250 IQ. Suffice it to say I have come to question the scientific rigor of IQ tests that my mother shares on Facebook:

Soldiers of Odin Edmonton Stunt Fizzles

Today was the day the Soldiers of Odin, the Northern Guard, and what I have to regard as a far-right Christian pseudo-militia Onward Christian Soldier planned on showing up in front of the Mustard Seed church in Edmonton to co-opt their good name and to pretend to be charitable.

I was genuinely wondering if the Soldiers of Odin would actually make an appearance; the Northern Guard and Onward Christian Soldiers no-showed. (SEPTEMBER 5 UPDATE: Evidently two members of the Onward Christian Soldiers pseudo-militia did make an appearance, leader Adam Stevenson and member Win Nay). Based observations by an eyewitness when all was said and done there were roughly 80 counter-protesters compared to "two confirmed proud boys, a black rifle coffee shop dude, and maybe 10-15 soldiers." When asked if they actually brought anything to provide the homeless, the person I spoke to suggested there appeared to be a pot in the back of one of the SoO member's truck and they had some granola bars.

Jeremy Thompson of CTV was on the scene:

When asked about those who arrived to counter-protest, I was told the following:
We were grassroots, just members of the community, and we told those Nazi punks to fuck off. So there's no group to claim credit or anything. We're just everyday folks that recognize that homelessness isn't a problem solved by racist vigilantism.
One of ARC's friends, Siobhan O'Leary, was also present. Let's see if we can help to identify some of the people whose photo was taken:

Far Right Continues to Ramp Up Violent Rhetoric: Advocating Politically-Based Murders

Well, the past week has certainly been interesting if you are interested in fringe alt-right Toronto mayoral candidates:

The TPS subsequently claimed that they didn't know who Goldy was and only appeared at her event because of a report that there could be "possible trouble" which is pretty vague, but.... sure, let's go with that:

For her part, Goldy decided to lash out at a group that ARC is proudly associated with:

It seems that Faith Goldy has been deep sixing some of her past social media posts (eg: promoting the "white genocide" myth) and denying things that she has said and written in an effort to sanitize her image (good luck with that). Despite appearing on a neo-Nazi podcast, hanging out with members of Students For Western Civilization, and promoting the far-right antisemites in ID Canada (formerly Generation Identity Canada), Goldy appears to have come to the conclusion that her electability in one of the most diverse cities in the world might hit a bit of a roadblock should more than half the population realize she can't stand them. To that end, the woman who casually discusses "the JQ" in interviews has even found some Jewish-Canadians who are willing to associate with her:

Now I can't be entirely certain, but it looks like this might be near the B'nai Brith headquarters where Palestinian supporters were protesting how the organization has characterized the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) and the Palestinian Postal Services Workers Union (PPSWU). Others arrived to counter-protest, including some well-known (at least to ARC and ARC readers) Islamophobes as well as members of the JDL. Two of those individuals were Mary Forrest and Laura Lee who have spoken at a number of Islamophobic rallies:

At one point they discuss the necessity of what Laura refers to as a "snitch line" to report Muslim-Canadians who's children wear hijabs. In this section I make some editorial comments:

And not surprising, they loves them their Faith Goldy who arrived later:

None of this comes as a surprise, however the next clip is especially disturbing in how they casually talk about engaging in politically-based murder:

This rhetoric (as well as continuing to suggest the actions of the man who used a van to murder people in Toronto was really inspired by Islam despite being demonstrably false) also isn't a surprise. ARC has reported time and time again about threats being made against political figures as well as individuals on the far right promoting the elimination of people they consider "traitors".... that being people who legally advocate for or enact through the democratic process policies the far-right authoritarians don't agree with:

The fact that Rick Boswick doesn't seem to understand that the "Night of the Long Knives" involved Nazis killing rival Nazis aside, the violent rhetoric seems to be ramping up online. For example, Proud Boys Canada seems to think that genocide is an effective means of keeping uppity minorities in check:

And Lynn Redden who heckled both Prime Minister Trudeau at a town hall in London and Iqra Khalid at an anti-racism event in Toronto helps get the killing boner of her followers up with a bit of conspiratorial Viagra:

This brings me to the big reveal which won't exactly be revelatory to anyone paying attention. Despite the claims of these people and groups to be "patriots" of advocating what they claim to be Canadian culture -- Western values such as democracy, free speech, religious freedom, equality, and other such platitudes -- these people really are authoritarian fascists who don't give a damn about Western cultural values. In fact, democracy is simply a hindrance if it doesn't go their way:

Alberta Soldiers of Odin Planned Labour Day Stunt: A Reminder Who They Are

A couple of weeks ago ARC learned that the Soldiers of Odin in Edmonton planned on holding an event near the Mustard Seed in the city on Labour Day, ostensibly to feed the homeless:

Of course it must be noted that the Mustard Seed, a faith-based organization that serves a diverse population which isn't limited to white Christians, wants nothing to do with this group and that another organization has been serving Edmonton's homeless population on Labour Day for nearly 30 years without fanfare:

The SoO don't plan on coming alone, as two other far-right groups have been listed as participating:

A church in Edmonton’s inner city says it has nothing to do with a plan by far-right groups to distribute food and water to homeless people near its premises.
In social media posts, members of Soldiers of Odin, Onward Christian Soldiers and Northern Guard said they plan to serve food and water to the homeless on Sept. 3.
All three hate groups were also involved in the Worldwide Coalition Against Islam fundraiser for the rally Joey Deluca had been planning for Toronto but which was ultimately cancelled and those involved in the scheme humiliated:

Should this particular stunt proceed it won't be the first time hate groups have tried to improve their public image and it will certainly not be the last. However given that the Alberta SoO is involved, I thought that ARC should remind our readers about the leader of the Calgary chapter and who is believed to be participating in the Edmonton stunt:

ARC wrote a lengthy article about Caldwell this past April. In that article ARC exposed his racism and antisemitism:

ARC could also highlight his connection to hate groups such as the WCAI, Canadian Nationalist Front (Goudreau's project), Blood & Honour, the III% militia, and other groups:

Call me a cynic, but I have a difficult time trusting in the altruism of the Soldiers of Odin given all of this.
