Richard Moon issued his report on the Canadian Human Rights Commission and he advocated that section 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act should be repealed. We're not going to go into the entire report deeply, but if you're interested in a good analysis go to BigCityLib's blog.

One would think that the racist right would be celebrating this. One would be wrong. In fact, some have come to realize that based on Moon's recommendations, things could actually get even worse for them. OdinPatrick, the Canadian Stormfront moderator, states:

As we know that the racist right is fond of all things German (at least German of a certain era in history involving goosestepping and bad moustaches), we'd like to introduce them to a word that often defines our member's attitudes towards the trials and tribulations of the racist right.

Schadenfreude.

November Odds and Ends

Those of us who participate in gathering information and writing articles for Anti-Racism Canada have been very busy this month, though our business is more a matter of our rather full and hectic lives than anything the far right are up to. November has been filled with hockey practices and piano lessons for our children, vacations to Spain, and getting marks ready for midterm report cards.

It helps that the activities of the far right have been pretty low key too.

So, we thought we'd write a short blurb about what has been happening over the last couple of weeks.

Terry Tremaine was in the news again today as the federal court upheld the ruling against the former University of Saskatchewan lecturer in which Tremaine was found guilty of human rights violations. Tremaine is also soon to be on trial for criminal charges related to his online postings, primarily on Stormfront and his own website. This news was greeted with the usual reaction of the far right as Canadian Stormfront moderator "OdinPatrick" speculated on the faith of the presiding judge:

Is Judith Snider Jewish? She appears to be a "champion" donor for the Canadian JFSA (Jewish Family Service Agency)

Folks on Stormfront Giddy With Excitement; Conservative Party Might Want to Take Notice of Who Their Supporters Are

A little over a week ago, the Conservative Party of Canada held a policy convention in Winnipeg. The convention marked a significant shift to the right and will no doubt be fodder for those who believe that Harper and the Conservatives have a secret agenda.

From our stand point, one of the most interesting motions was to remove power from the Canadian Human Rights Commission and Tribunal. Recently some prominent conservatives have found themselves in the cross hairs of the Tribunal for comments made about Muslims and Islam. We find it interesting it was only some of their own were targeted that conservatives started calling for more freedom of speech.

One of the biggest cheerleaders of this motion, which ultimately passed almost with unanimity, was Paul Fromm who called on his supporters to write Conservative MPs to push for defanging the Commission and Tribunal. Fromm is no stranger to the Tribunal, as he has advocated for a number of individuals who had been brought before the Tribunal based on complaints by Richard Warman. We will charitably state that Fromm's efforts before the Tribunal have met with limited success.

When news that the motion was adopted reached Stormfront, the faithful were ready to celebrate their great victory over the powers of ZOG. Here are some select comments:

Perhaps not, but as the 70th anniversary of Kristallnacht occurred between November 9 and 10, one can't help wonder if our favourite Calgary neo-Nazis might have decided to commemorate the event in the special way that only boneheads could. The following Facebook status of Bill Noble doesn't help assuage our suspicions:

I believe that the Aryan Guard is in violation of the following sections of your Terms of Service 1) Indecent Images & Links (due to their use of swastikas and other hate symbols); 3) Topics & Material (due to their clearly white supremacist and neo-Nazi oriented discussions); and 4) Legal Use (although I am not aware of a breach of U.K. or U.S. laws, there are clear violations of Canadian human rights legislation, including s. 13 of the Canadian Human Rights Act, and potentially of s. 319 of the Criminal Code of Canada).

I trust that you will take swift and proper action to prevent this hate group from further using your services. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. Thank you.

Odds and Ends

First, the comedy. VNN is one of the preeminent "White Nationalist" websites on the Net. Their web forum is frequented by people who make the posters on Stormfront appear lucid and rational by comparison. The VNN posters take a great deal of pride in their vulgarity and their overt calls for violence against minorities and those individuals who oppose them. Among the prominent posters on VNN are Canada's own Tom Winnicki, William White (recently arrested for suggesting the murder of a juror in the Matt Hale case among other things) and site owner Alex Linder.

They're also complete idiots.

Take a look at the following screen shot and try to guess where there's a bit of a problem. Here's a hint: they might have done poorly in geography.

Yet another Aryan Guard member in trouble

While we had suspected it to be the case some time ago, it has essentially been confirmed that founding member of the Aryan Guard "RN" has been sent away to jail. We know that he was found guilty of criminal activities some time ago and he was often visited by the police during the summer to check to see if he was violating curfew. We would guess that he entered jail some time around the beginning of September.

Not that we want to poke a hornet's nest.

But we thought we'd post some of the recent war of words that have taken place on this blog between the Aryan Guard and Volksfront.

In no particular order:

There will be no beatings in British Columbia, should the Aryan Guard choose to "expand". British Columbia is a soft foothold for the renegade Blood and Honor and Volksfront, led by none-other than a person we will call "Kevin", who had fled Eastern Canada due to his connections with CSIS, and his father, a JOG police agent.

Before getting to the main event, we continue our long running saga detailing the dispute between Tom Trenerry and John Marleau. In this exciting episode, we learn about the origin of the rather heated disagreement between these erstwhile allies:

We think that Tom actually hurt John's feelings here. John seems upset that Tom has continues to make fun of him because of John's weight problem. True, that's a low blow. What we could rather Tom comment on is John's apparent inability to bond with a woman who isn't under the age of 16. That, our dear readers, is truly sad.

At this point, we have to admit that the Trenerry and Marleau spat has grown predictable, tiresome, and boring. Until something more exciting occurs, we're not going to tune in to their minstral show any longer. Changing the chanel.

What has interested us is the rising tension between the Aryan Guard on one side, and the "A" brothers and Volksfront on the other. We have earlier discussed the online fight resulting from comments made by D.A. on the Stormfront, Blood and Honour, and Aryan Guard Forums (here and here). Soon after posting the second to the two articles, we received the following message, presumably from someone close to the Aryan Guard, if not a member himself:

We reported on this earlier, but we thought our readers would like an update. A recent article in the "Calgary Sun" discusses the incident involving an attack on a Japanese tourist by at least one member of the Aryan Guard. That this woman was assaulted was bad enough, but the manner in which it occurred is chilling. It appears that the alleged attacker specifically targeted to woman to earn his red laces.
