The Cozy Relationship Between Rebel Media Personalities (Past and Present) and White Nationalist Generation Identity/ID Canada

Back on July 2, 2016 a rally and counter protest occurred at Queens Park in Toronto which in and of itself wasn't especially unusual. On this day were those who were demonstrating in support of al-Quds Day. On the other side were counter-protesters including the Jewish Defence League and supporters of the then newish Pegida Canada. While this event in and of itself would have been worth looking into in more detail had I been more on the ball at the time, it was what I have subsequently learned about what was happening on the periphery as a lone individual observed and commented on the event that I now find especially interesting:

The individual observing the event is seen above commenting on 4chan which is one of the toxic cesspools found online rife with racism, sexism, Islamophobia, and antisemitism. The individual took a number of photographs documenting his or her presence at the event:

The posts made by the individual (highlighted in red) and others certainly conform to the vicious hatred that one would expect to find on 4chan as well:

In some cases I've included the comment being responded too and combined it with the reply.

Now if I were to post every racist thing posted on 4chan, even if I confined myself to including only Canadian posts I'd be too busy to do anything else with my day. The reason why this particular thread is compelling is because of this comment in which the individual claims to be a writer for Rebel Media as well as being on the administrative team for Generation Identity Canada:

Generation Identity Canada, now rebranded as ID Canada, was barely on my radar at the time this post was made. I was somewhat aware of the movement in Europe but was more focused on more public groups such as the Soldiers of Odin and Pegida Canada. Over the past few years however this particular "identitarian" group and the movement in general has come to occupy a fair amount of my time.

Now while regular readers are likely all well aware of who Generation Identity/ID Canada is as well as the beliefs the membership holds at this point there may be a few new readers who would like a bit of a primer:

I can't speak to the truthfulness of claims the person posting these messaged made regarding his or her involvement with both Rebel Media or Generation Identity. I haven't been able to find any video on "The Rebel's" website that match the description of what was described and the original Generation Identity Canada Facebook page has long since gone the way of the Dodo only to replaced by a new Facebook group. However, one thing that is very clear is that current and former members of the Rebel Media team have had a very close relationship with Generation Identity/Generation Identity Canada/ID Canada over the years and have spent a lot of time promoting the group (full video "Exposure Undercover: Inside Britain's New Far Right can be found here):

Yellow Jackets Canada Facebook Group Founder/Administrator Marc "Tyler" Malenfant: A Lying Liar Who Lies

I don't know why I continue to be both surprised and amused by Marc "Tyler" Malenfant's repeted claims that the racist and antisemitic posts he made to two news article back in 2015 are fake. For example when the "StarMetro Edmonton" confronted him, this happened:
The Yellow Vests Canada Facebook page lists a “Tyler Malenfant” as its administrator. The same Facebook profile was used to post comments on an Al Jazeera news article about a Jewish conspiracy to “destroy” Christianity and replace North America’s white majority through a concerted effort of mass migration.
When asked about his comments on the news article, the user of the profile deleted the comments and denied they ever existed. The user said the screenshots StarMetro took were fake.
This claim that the screenshots were "fake" or "fraudulent" were also made to CANADALAND which published an article this past Monday:
Malenfant has a history of racist, anti-Semitic, and bigoted comments online, as painstakingly documented by Anti-Racist Canada, a long-running project tracking the country’s far right.
Asked by CANADALAND about these statements, Malenfant claims that Anti-Racist Canada’s screenshots are “fake” and “a fabrication”; he previously said the same thing to StarMetro Edmonton about screenshots they themselves took.
Of course as CANADALAND noted, ARC had documented all of this three years prior to the existance of the Yellow Vests movement, the reactionary Canadian co-opting of the movement, and Malenfant's involvement in said co-opted movement. In other words, I had to know three years in advance that Marc "Tyler" Malenfant would be a player in a future far-right protest movement and preemptively fake screenshots to discredit him in the future. Not only me, but one other blogger as well.

I mean, I'm good, but I'm not fucking Nostradamus.

Malenfant, just off a forced Facebook vacation, posted the following missive denouncing the claims made against him:

While I can't say anything about this....

.... I sure as hell have more to say about this:

Yeah.... let's explore that, shall we?

Now Malenfant has deleted all of the screen shots from the Al-Jazeera article (and it looks like "Vice" removed all of the comments) though one can still see replies to Malenfant. That said I did take screen shots of all of them which can be found in the article from 2015. This one was among them:

Dmitri Balitsky was also a subject in that 2015 article. Based on Malenfant's invitation to participate in the discussion it is clear that he had a friendly relationship with Balitsky as well which we will be exploring. In the meantime it might be instructive to reacquaint readers with Balitsky.

Money Money Money: Faith Goldy Tries to Pay Legal Bill and Tyler Malenfant of Yellow Vests Canada Promotes Vague Fund Raiser

When ARC learned that, in addition to the $50,000 legal bill owed to her lawyer, Faith Goldy would also be hit with an additional $43,000 in court costs to Bell Canada I knew that she would face this challenge with grace and dignity.... if by grace and dignity I really meant crying, gnashing teeth, and begging:

Those last two tweets will become relevant soon enough.

If one had gone to her Go Fund Me page, one would notice that every single person who contributed was a male because despite her recent marriage they STILL are desperate to get her into bed which is really pathetic.

Still, she does have her female supporters, one of whom post the following onto Tyler Malenfant's Yellow Vests Canada Facebook page:

The subsequent discussion which includes former III% member and former leader Beau Welling, Freebird Media personality and ethno-nationalist Alexander Van Hamme, and Georges Hallak quickly turned into a farce (more so) when someone successfully trolled the lot of them:

Unfortunately, the fun didn't last:

No exaggeration. Her GFM profile really was taken down that quickly:

:)

UPDATE: Goldy has a very high opinion of herself as she whines.

Coincidentally, Goldy wasn't the only person involved in this past Saturday's reactionary Yellow Vests protest in Toronto to grift fund raise:

Tyler Melenfant, a man who has a history of posting racist, Islamophobic, and antisemitic rhetoric, is trying to raise $4000 for the following:

And despite most of these people knowing of Malenfant for at best a week and in some cases claiming to be unemployed and hard up for money, there are those who seem willing to pony up:

The reason why Cruise feels Melanfant is trustworthy is.... well.... you sort of have to see it to believe it (even though you won't be at all surprised):

Having his photo taken in front of Trump Tower is enough to make Cruise trust that Malenfant is on the level.

If that's the case, I should even be more trustworthy since when I was recently in New York, I had my picture taken in front of Trump Tower not once, not twice, but thrice! Sure, two of those pictures involved me impotently giving the building the middle finger which did nothing other than temporarily make me feel better since buildings are non-living, unconscious, structures devoid of any emotions.... but yeah! I sure showed THAT assemblage of steel and masonry what's what!

Now while many people are as credulous (one might uncharitably suggest gullible) as Cruise, others are a might bit suspicious. The following is part of the very lengthy exchange that took place on the thread which involves the usual backbiting:

Far-right Canadian Yellow Vest Reactionaries - Promoters of Violence and Conspiracy Theories, Already At Each Others' Throats

As they did last week when they unoriginally co-opted the French Yellow Vest protests (Mouvement des gilets jaunes), the far-right reactionaries organized another Saturday of protests in a number of Canadian cities. In most cases the numbers were down significantly from the previous Saturday (and even then outside Ottawa, Calgary, and Edmonton they weren't much to speak of). However Calgary and Edmonton still appear to have numbered in the 100s.... though even this is a bit of conjecture since many law enforcement officers were also wearing yellow safety vests:

At least some of the co-ordination for these protests is occurring on Yellow Vests Canada.

Currently there are roughly 65,000 members of the group, though I suspect that most of those who were added, like those in the past who had been added to the WCAI group, aren't really aware of what the group is about since members could add others fairly indiscriminately. Also, before making it a closed group, there were quite a few people taking the "true believers" to task:

Tyler Malenfant is the founder and administrator of this and a few other Yellow Vest Facebook groups. It might be of interest then to ARC readers to note that Malenfant is someone who has appeared on the blog back in December 2015 in relation to his apparent connection to Students For Western Civilization, something that a number of readers noticed even before I did:

Malenfant eventually responded and his explanation for his racist and antisemitic posts is absolutely hilarious:

Malenfant claims the screen shots of his posts are fake, which suggests he expects people to believe that ARC posted fake screen shots in December 2015 knowing that in November 2018 massive protests would occur in France resulting in Canadian far-right supporters co-opting the imagery of said protests in December 2018 and that Malenfant would become an organizer in this astroturf movement... all in an effort to discredit him.

Sure or, and stay with me on this, might a simpler explanation be that Malenfant posted racist and antisemetic comments three years ago and now he's desperate to try and explain them away even though one can still see many of these posts online?

I mean, either/or, right?

Goldy's Gotta Goldy

So it has been a while since ARC checked up on failed mayoral candidate Faith Goldy since her.... well.... failed mayoral campaign. Last I checked she was calling for a boycott of Bell Canada which I'm sure was a totally principled stance and not at all self-serving:

I thought I'd take a look to see what she was up to lately and found that despite her very brief and transparent (and, I stress, failed) attempt to appeal to a diverse Toronto electorate, she has re-embraced ethnic nationalism. One of her most recent screeds was to complain about honoring Viola Desmond on the ten dollar bill:

Uhm, she ultimately DID fight it but her conviction was upheld based on a bit of a loophole. Also, Borden isn't on the $10 bill. He's on the 100% bill.

Goldy appears to be trying to get back into the good books of the "alt-right" identitarian crowd who she alienated during her campaign, retweeting a Students For Western Civilization post also complaining that about Viola Desmond and a Generation Identity tweet complaining about something else:

Aftermath of Toronto Mayoral Election: White Nationalists Attack Goldy For Ideological Impurity

I've read a lot of people who are justifiably concerned that an odious white nationalist could garner more than 25,000 votes (3.4%) and finish in (albeit a distant) third place in a civic election taking place in one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the world. Playing the devil's advocate, I imagine that part of this number is due to Goldy being a familiar name from her time in both relatively mainstream media (ie. the short-lived Sun News) and her time with Ezra Levant's "Rebel Media." Still, I don't blame anyone for being pretty disgusted that she would get any votes.

But the white nationalists aren't celebrating. Far from it.

There are of course those who remain her supporters who are angry because they erroneously believe the election was stolen from her, however there is a sizable number of her former backers who are angry that she cynically appealed to minority groups and lied about her white nationalist bona fides in order to broaden her appeal. That was evident last night when Richard Spencer, the man who claims to have coined the term, alt-right, engaged in a Twitter storm attacking Goldy:

Later, Spencer claimed that a member of Goldy's own campaign volunteers contacted him to complain about Goldy's strategy:

None of this came as a surprise as a rift had become evident during the last month of the campaign.

Ronny Cameron was among the first to attack the woman he once dubbed "the queen of the alt-right." Others followed. The most interesting criticism came from one of her most visible supporters:

Incidentally, am I the only person who thinks "Jack Tyler" looks like the love child of Baby Herman from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" and Clare Quilty from the Jeremy Iron's version of "Lolita"?

In any case, "Cracker Jack" (aka "Jack Tyler") was interviewed on October 20 regarding Goldy (this was a follow-up to an October 11 interview, a clip of which appears in the video that will follow). In the video "Cracker Jack"  discusses his disappointment in Goldy and her campaign.

It is a longish video and I have edited it somewhat for time. I also include some clarifying screen shots from Goldy's Twitter page and elsewhere, a few editorial comments, and less snark than I usually add.

I mean, not NO snark. I'm not a stone after all:

Faith Goldy' Mayoral Run Described As A Twitter Vanity Campaign By Ezra Levant

As we enter the last 24 hours before Toronto's civic election, Faith Goldy is still complaining about being hard done by the media for not covering her mayoral campaign in the way she thinks they should:

And because of this she acts like a petulant child both in refusing an offer by the media to cover her campaign....

.... or "laughing" when a newspaper perceived as left of center endorsed the front runner but the right-wing tabloid you were once associated with through their failed news channel also endorses the front runner:

That's the sort of maturity one would expect from a six year old who, after crying about not being invited to the cool kids birthday party, refuses other invitations as if she is getting back at someone.

Or, perhaps even more apropos:

Aside from a few far-right figures and some columnists, most recently and shamefully Conrad Black who is white washing Goldy's record of support for white nationalism, no legitimate journalist left, right, or center gives her a chance of winning; few expect she'll poll more than 5% tomorrow. One would think her former place of work, the far-right propaganda site "Rebel Media" might offer a few lines of coverage at least, though they too have been mainly silent. This might be one of the reasons for this particularly passive-aggressive tweet:

Well there's a rather simple reason for this. Ezra Levant doesn't think she warrants coverage because he doesn't believe it to be a serious campaign, but describes it as a Twitter vanity project aimed at increasing her profile online.

H/T to Jonathan Goldsbie of "Canadaland" who posted the links to Levant's videos on Twitter.

On August 27, not long after she announced her candidacy, Levant was asked if he would support her. His answer was no and he then proceeded to give a surprisingly cogent rationale. He suggested that it wasn't serious, was (as already noted) a vanity project, that she has absolutely no managerial experience, she's made some incredibly poor decisions, and her embrace of white nationalism as reasons that he neither supports Goldy nor will spend much time covering her campaign:

ARC had also noted that her campaign seemed primarily as a means of self-promotion and to drive traffic to her YouTube channel, a belief I think is born out by the evidence that ARC and our supporters have uncovered:
